We often talk in Naples about the “bridge” between the United States and Italy, the wire that connects the Silicon Valley and the laboratories in Campania. Some weeks ago at the University Federico II – with, among the others, the American consul Colombia Barrosse and the rector Gaetano Manfredi – the Neapolitan entrepreneur (that lives in New York) Fernando Napolitano explained the objectives of the Best Program (Business Exchange and Student Training), promoted by Invitalia.
In summary: who has an innovative project to be developed can attend intensive courses in entrepreneurship and management of innovative companies at the Santa Clara University in California. They will follow a period of stage in several companies at Silicon Valley, what means checking “in the field” the elements they learned.
All were agreed that Best is a successful program and that should be supported by the different Italian regions to extend the positive results. It is also a way to support the third mission of the University, the business development that is gaining ground in Italy.
The data shown during the conference by Gabriella Fabbrocini (Health Council) are obvious and they are confirmed by the results presented by two italian networks that are working on these issues: Netval and Pni Cube. Even in Campania, this philosophy has taken roots. We just recall the last contest we organized last june at the building of Unione degli Industriali, to show the projects realized by the students of the universities of Campania. The third mission of the university, the entrepreneurial, indicates a possible route for the development of Italy in the next few years.
